Dato’ Ahmad Hisham Kamaruddin graduated from University of Malaya in 1979 with an Honours Law degree as a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons). He served as a Legal Officer in a Bank and subsequently as a Company Secretary in Malaysian Industrial Estates Sdn Bhd. In May 1982, he was called to the Malaysian Bar and then continued to serve Messrs. Abdul Aziz & Ong. In October 1983, he founded Messrs. Hisham & Associates in Kuala Lumpur, a boutique firm advising clients (domestic and international as well as both governmental and private) on Petrochemical, Oil & Gas related projects. Dato’ Hisham has also acquired extensive experience in corporate banking and finance, loan & securities documentation as well as in corporate matters.
Dato’ Hisham further focuses on complex joint-venture agreements between Malaysian entities and foreign investors. Other areas of expertise include cross-border estate planning, intellectual property and aviation law. He remains the senior partner of that law firm until to date. Dato’ Hisham has been practising law in Malaysia for more than 30 years. Dato’ Hisham is also a Notary Public.In 2014, he has formed an affiliate with NH Partners which office at Berkeley Square, London and with Nützi & Partners with office in Zug, Switzerland.
Dato’ Hisham is a duly registered Trademark and Industrial Design Agent with the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism. He is also a Council member of the Malaysian Heritage Council appointed by the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and actively involved in the conservation and preservation of heritage in Malaysia. Dato’ Hisham was appointed in 2006 a Tribunal President for the Consumer Court in Malaysia by the Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism.
On 11th August, 2014, Dato’ Hisham has been appointed as a Council Member of the Malaysia Competition Commission. The Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) is an independent body established under the Competition Commission Act 2010 to enforce the Competition Act, 2010.
